The Fleming Collection

The Fleming Collection

More about

The Fleming Collection is considered to be the finest collection of Scottish art outside public institutions, comprising over 600 works from the seventeenth century to the present day. The collection is made up of Scottish greats from Henry Raeburn and David Wilkie to Elizabeth Blackadder and William Gillies, being particularly noted for its works by the Glasgow Boys and Girls as well as a superb selection of the Scottish Colourists. It remains a living collection through further acquisitions, focusing on filling historical gaps as well as emerging Scottish artists. The Fleming Collection has run as a ‘Museum without Walls’ strategy since 2015, developing a programme of touring exhibitions, such as the Scottish Colourists and Scottish Women Artists, as well as loans of individual works to support both long-term displays and temporary exhibitions in public institutions. The Fleming Collection is owned by the Fleming-Wyfold Art Foundation, a charity which promotes Scottish art and creatively largely outside Scotland. Please be aware that this venue is not a gallery.
