Landscape and figure painter in oil, gouache and watercolour. Born in Glasgow, Blyth studied art under Forrester Wilson at Glasgow School of Art, 1934–9, and under James Cowie at Patrick Allan-Fraser School of Art, Hospitalfield, Arbroath, 1938. He became head of drawing and painting at Gray’s School of Art, Aberdeen. Showed widely, including Royal Glasgow Institute of the Fine Arts, RSA, RSW and SSA. The Ministry of Works, Dundee City Art Gallery and Dunbartonshire County Council bought his work, which often has a strongly romantic flavour. Memorial exhibition was held at Aberdeen Art Gallery, 1972. Lived in Aberdeen.
