The oldest intact building in the care of the National Trust for Scotland, from 1323 to 1975 Drum Castle was the home of the Irvine family. Situated in the world-famous ‘castle country’ of north-east Scotland, the castle stands at the gates to Royal Deeside on a ridge overlooking the River Dee, 10 miles from the heart of Aberdeen. Inside, enjoy superb furniture, fine paintings and magnificent views from the battlements of the Forest of Drum and the countryside beyond. The estate includes the Old Wood of Drum, an ancient oak woodland designated a Site of Special Scientific Interest.

The grounds are open all year, daily. The Castle, Tearoom and shop are open 2nd April to 30th June, Thursday to Monday 11am–4.45pm; 1st July to 31st August, daily 11am–4.45pm; 1st September to 30th September, Thursday to Monday 11am–4.45pm, last entry is 45 minutes before closing. The Garden of Historic Roses is open from 2nd April to 31st October, daily 11am–5pm.
