Until 1955 the buildings occupied by Arbroath Signal Tower Museum formed the shore station and family living quarters for the lightkeepers on the Bell Rock Lighthouse built by Robert Stevenson. The Museum tells the fascinating story of the lighthouse in displays that reflect the past lives of the keepers' families and the fishing heritage of Arbroath. Highlights include the massive lens of the last manually operated lamp used in the lighthouse. Furthermore, Signal Tower Museum boasts an impressive tower that provides a fantastic viewpoint across Arbroath. The tower is open to the public on a Saturday via bookable tours. The public can also view both the Museum and the tower views through Virtual Reality Headsets available for use on-site.
