Bangor University's art collection comprises 600 works from the 17th Century to the present, with a significant group of Frederick William Hayes paintings. Within its 20th Century holdings Welsh artists are well represented, including Brenda Chamberlain, David Jones, Peter Prendergast, Gwilym Prichard, Ceri Richards, Will Roberts, Evan Walters, Claudia Williams, Christopher Williams and Kyffin Williams. It also holds a collection of twelve paintings acquired from the London art market by Charles Evans in 1938 in honour of his father, William Evans (1841–1919) and lent to the University of Wales in Bangor for the enjoyment of students and staff. This small set includes works by Paul Nash, Winifred Nicholson and Edward Wadsworth.
