Painter and poet, born in Bangor, where she died. First wife of the artist John Petts, with whom she founded the Caseg Press. After a visit to Copenhagen in 1930, where she was much impressed by Gauguin’s early work, Chamberlain in 1931–6 studied at Royal Academy Schools, Ernest Jackson and Walter Westley Russell being among her teachers. She also studied at University College of North Wales, Bangor. Chamberlain participated in many group shows, including Heal’s Mansard Gallery, 1948; The Influence of Wales in Painting, Brighton, 1957; and Eisteddfod Gold Medallists, WAC, 1967. One-man shows included Gimpel Fils on several occasions in the 1950s; Zwemmer Gallery, 1962; and a memorial exhibition at National Museum of Wales, Cardiff, 1973.
