A rough track crosses the scene from right to left and disappears down behind a fold in the bank to a series of almost totally hidden industrial buildings. A large chimney with smoking plume and a further chimney punctuate the skyline on the left. Along the track the spoil heaps rise and show signs of some vegetation, above, grey mounds show further tipping. On the far right a fold in the banks shows a glimpse of further industry. On the left of the picture, the heap falls steeply away and on the top the track curves round towards the bottom left of the scene.
