A cenotaph with horizontal abutments in the form of a sarcophagus to either side. There is a statue of Peace on a pedestal in front of the cenotaph with bowed head, holding a laurel wreath. The names from men of Heywood who fell in both world wars were engraved on the monument in 1986.
