Painter and teacher, born in Birmingham, who was married to the artist George Mackie. She studied at Coventry and Edinburgh Colleges of Art, 1946–51, at the latter with an Andrew Grant Scholarship, then in 1951–2 had a travelling scholarship which took her to Spain and France. Was a visiting lecturer at Grays School of Art, Aberdeen. Group showings included John Moores Exhibition, Liverpool, and Richard Demarco Gallery, Edinburgh; Richard Demarco gave her a one-man show in 1970 after one at the Traverse Theatre Gallery 14 years before, after which she had several at the Scottish Gallery in the city as well as an important one at Aberdeen Art Gallery, 1995–6. It holds her work, as do HM The Queen, Scottish Arts Council, Glasgow’s Kelvingrove and Lillie Art Gallery, Milngavie.
