The Worcester Porcelain Museum displays a treasure trove of the finest English porcelain in three period galleries. The unique and comprehensive collection of ceramics is complimented and enriched by a number of oil paintings, an archive of pattern books, design, production and employment records and a host of photographs relating to the porcelain factory and workforce over the centuries. The museum, which overlooks the former Severn Street factory site next to Worcester Cathedral, brings together pictures that once hung in the works. The paintings allow us to visualise some of the fascinating characters involved in the business and illustrate the history of this remarkable company which was a world leader of porcelain production between 1751 and 2009. Highlights include ‘The Judgement of Brutus’ by company founder, Dr John Wall and portraits such as that of Charles William Dyson Perrins of Worcestershire sauce fame by Waldron West, and Joseph Gimson by Ruskin Spear.
