Misty landscapes with sheep and cattle were exceptionally popular subjects in the early years of the 20th century. Artists at the Worcester Royal Porcelain company copied the scenes onto porcelain, using postcards and book illustrations as inspiration. Many of the artists supplemented their income from the factory by selling small watercolours and oils locally.
