Maggie’s Glasgow Gartnavel is the second Maggie’s Centre in Glasgow. One of Maggie’s primary aims is to make it as easy as possible for people living with cancer to access their local centre. Thus, when the Beatson Oncology Centre announced that it was moving from the Western Infirmary to a new site at Gartnavel Hospital, it was natural for Maggie’s to look to build a centre nearby. The centre was designed by world renowned architect Rem Koolhaas of architecture firm OMA. The centre also contains a small but significant collection of art works, as all Maggie’s centres do. Notably in Gartnavel there are three works by leading Scottish contemporary artist Callum Innes. Innes generously donated the works from his ‘Cento Series’ for the centre opening in October 2011.
