Inspiring our next inventors is our mission at Parc Howard Museum. Our brand-new exhibitions showcase some of the greatest ideas and inventions to come out of Llanelli. Many know about the world's first spare wheel - the Stepney - but did you know that the founder of Specsavers was born in the town? It's always been a place of change and innovation. That's not all. We're inviting you to explore, discuss and play together in our Imaginarium gallery, as it's the best way to learn and make sense of the world. Play, imagination and creativity influenced toys, popular culture and even scientific discoveries. Fire your imagination by solving the pyramid puzzle. Or gaze in wonder at the beautiful images of the kaleidoscope. Perhaps even discovering the mystery of Pepper's Ghost! A Museum Transformed Extensive renovations have transformed Parc Howard Museum into a place of discovery and wonder. It's a family-friendly museum with community and creativity at its heart. The ground floor reopened to visitors in December 2023 after two years of refurbishments. The exhibitions unveiled were created through community projects, highlighting stories of Llanelli’s people. They include the Llanelly Pottery Stories gallery, which hosts the largest collection of Llanelly Pottery on public display anywhere, as well as an elegant painting gallery featuring many works on Art UK. The stunning Italianate mansion house itself also had a makeover. The iconic tower, roof and porch were restored and systems upgraded throughout. There's also a welcoming and accessible visitor reception with a gift shop stuffed full of playful presents and locally-sourced souvenirs. It's also the place to go to find hot drinks, snacks, and ice creams. Carmarthenshire County Council and Llanelli Town Council have funded the ambitious project and continue to work together to deliver a fun and inclusive visitor experience for all.
