An abstracted embroidered waterfall on a soft blue background, falling from a calm horizontal strip of bright blue sky. The artist dyed her own yarn to suit the colours and light of the West Coast. She used a combination of hand and machine embroidery to create her work. Hex was artist in residence at four island secondary schools in Argyll and Bute (Tiree, Islay, Tobermory and Rothesay) in 1989/1990 as part of the City of Culture Scheme, and developed these works from direct observation of the natural environment.
