An infantryman, with rifle and fixed bayonet, stands on a rock with a tree stump looking to his left. The sculpture is is mounted on an inscribed and wreathed plinth, which is set on a three-stepped base. The whole is raised on a wider stepped platform incorporating two separate plaque bearing upstands. Also on the platform are four metal black and red or black and white benches commemorating the war dead and the military services.
