Dee Young is a former student on the BA Hons Fine Art course at SSU. She continues to work in Southampton as an independent artist. This work was purchased in 2001 from her final degree exhibition. She writes about her work: "My perception is not seen through rose tinted glasses, more like spectacles of prisms which reveal the rainbow of the light (man-made/natural) as it bounces off both the natural and constructed environment. The view flattened and simplified to present only the essence of the scene, with all the unnecessary detail eliminated, and composed in a rhythmic pattern of layers of colour resent in them. My intention is that the viewer should sense the refined spirituality and mysticism suggested by their colours. resent in them.
