With stainless steel elements flung across and around the upper corner of the Eccleston Student Engineering Centre, Ian Tricker's 'Torque' invokes the dynamism and power of the activities that take place within the building. Its highly polished surfaces change with the light, and the sense that you can never quite see the same work twice is furthered by its refusal to privilege a single viewing point. Tricker developed his sculptural practice whilst studying for a BA in Fine Art at Loughborough University, and subsequently undertook a Masters in Sculpture at the RCA. The Eccleston Student Engineering Centre provides students with a purpose-built space for the pursuit of extra-curricular engineering projects, and was funded by Barry and Valerie Eccleston.
