A famous view and well-known print of the walk laid out in the mid-eighteenth century along the River Ouse from St George’s Field downstream. This view shows the newly planted trees, which in later copies have naturally matured. Note the woman with a folded fan and the orange seller at the side. The print is taken from the original oil painting of the New Terrace Walk by Nathan Drake.
