This painting shows Edward Walker seated at a table dressed in black robes with a white cambric collar and cuffs. There is a marble bust and pastoral landscape behind him.

Walker bought New Place on 18th May 1675 but does not seem to have lived there, living instead at Clopton in Warwickshire. Walker had been a staunch Royalist during the English Civil War.
