In 2015 a memorial bench and three steel statues were installed in Beam Valley Country Park / Eastbrook Country Park as part of the Sustrans national cycle path portrait bench project. The statues were of three local heroes: a machinist of the Dagenham Ford strike of 1968; Elm Park solider, Warrant Officer Ian Fisher, who gave his life while serving in Afghanistan in 2013; and musician Billy Bragg. In 2017, the statue of Ian Fisher was cut down and stolen by vandals; the council installed a replacement in 2018. (The original was found later in 2018 and given to Ian's parents.)
