The work was created in the Fontaines Pétrifiantes de Saint Nectaire caves in France. Here, limestone stalactites formed in one year that would take a century under normal conditions. Halperin left a group of rubber moulds in these caves for 10 months to achieve her cave casts; geological processes intertwining with the artist’s hand. The sculpture rests on a bespoke brass stand, with reflective mirror surface and acrylic plastic cover.
