A wall mounted portrait relief, the figure seated, dressed in a toga, the arms resting on the knees with the palms turned upwards. Leaning against the back of the seat is a bible. The seated figure rests on an inscribed plinth.

inscription to front of plinth, black painted letters: UNDERNEATH IS LAID WHAT WAS MORTAL OF WILLIAM STEPHEN POYNTZ ESQRE AS A MAN HE WAS JUST, UPRIGHT, GENEROUS AND SINCERE AS A FRIEND TRUE, KIND, CORDIAL AND ENDURING AS A HUSBAND AND FATHER FAITHFUL, CONFIDING TENDER AND AFFECTIONATE HE WAS REVERED BY HIS DEPENDANTS ESTEEMED BY HIS FRIENDS AND ARDENTLY BELOVED BY ALL HIS FAMILY. HE WAS BORN ON THE XXTH DAY OF JANUARY MDCCLXX. HAVING WEPT OVER THE GRAVES OF HIS TWO SONS, AND BELOVED WIFE, HE BORE WITH CHRISTIAN PATIENCE SIX YEARS OF UNCOMPLAINING SUFFERING AND CLOSED HIS HONOURED LIFE ON THE VIIITH DAY OF APRIL MDCCCXL. THIS MONUMENT IS ERECTED BY HIS THREE DAUGHTERS FRANCES ISABELLA LADY CLINTON, GEORGINA ELIZABETH COUNTESS SPENCER, ISABELLA MARCHIONESS OF EXETER. MDCCCXLVIII. LOOKING FOR THE MERCY OF OUR LORD JESUS CHRIST UNTO ETERNAL LIFE
