She says of her paintings: "My works explore the opposition between familiarity and the unknown, between a longing for, and a fear of, the wilderness. The works reference my memories of film, places that I have never experienced first hand. Raised in the city, landscapes have always produced feelings of anxiety and isolation for me. However, by viewing the wilderness in the safe environment of the film, I am able to explore the unknown and experience the forbidden."
