Carole first exhibited in her college years with Alan Fletcher and Douglas Abercrombie in 1958. She held her first one-woman show in her Renfrew Street studio, from where she sold paintings to the poet J. F. Hendry. With his encouragement she travelled to Europe, living and working in Spain.
