inscribed on open book: This sculpture is dedicated to the memory of Dr Raymond Hughes, who was a GP in Roehampton for 30 years and his wife Dorothy. / Dorothy Hughes was a committed supporter of the friends of Queen Mary's Hospital, Roehampton for 16 years until her death in 1999. / Brian Alabaster sculpted this piece of his son, Sam who has downs syndrome being read to by his grandfather, Dickie. / April 2009
