Brammer is perhaps best known for his artistic output capturing the industrial landscapes and heritage of Stoke-on-Trent and its ‘Five Towns’, more commonly known as the Potteries. His series of etchings produced in the mid and late 1940s are widely regarded as one of the outstanding portrayals of the industrial heyday of the Potteries, however his oil paintings are rarer and less well known. He painted this landscape depicting a local clay pit much later in his career.
