Each self portrait is based on an object which symbolises her at a certain age, in this case a piano representing her at the age of nine. It is covered with images of Chadwick, the area she grew up in, and pictures of the piano itself. She is careful to hide her face as the work is intended to be a universal portrait of growing up.
