The elaborate square cast iron structure has a domed canopy supported on four columns. It is decorated with biblical texts and other verses, and is presently painted a dark green. Two square, grey granite steps form the base. The fountain was a stock item with minor alterations, and the standard version was illustrated in the company’s brochure as 'MacFarlane’s Patent No. 8 Drinking Fountain', priced at £27 10s.
