An octagonal stone plinth with a cast-iron canopy and tapering, cylindrical fountain with bowl. Eight slender, ribbed columns, with shaped bases and foliage capitals, support an octagonal, pierced, arcaded drum and cupola. The drum has eight roundels, between dragon's heads, depicting a railway locomotive designed by Timothy Hackworth.
