Artist’s comments: Circular and domed, the glass piece centrally placed in the debating chamber appears to rise out of the floor. This configuration gives expression to a dynamic that is one of emergence, a reflection and statement about the Assembly itself which is new and emerging. The imagery that embellishes the form is abstract and of a swirling pattern. It is a central focal point from which radiate arcs of different sized dots. The dynamic of these marks express a duality of forces – that which radiates out also conversely converge back to the centre. This is how I see the working of the Assembly in that there is a confluence of listening and decision making. The artwork is a composite of different layers of glass of different thicknesses, bonded together.
Sylwadau’r Artist: Mae’r gwaith gwydr crwn a chrwm a osodwyd yng nghanol y Siambr yn ymddangos fel pe bai’n egino o’r llawr ac o ganlyniad mae’n adlewyrchu’r Cynulliad fe l corff newydd sy’n datblygu. Mae’r gwaith ar ffurf delwedd haniaethol sy’n chwyrlïo ac mae dotiau o wahanol faint yn estyn o ganol y gwaith. Mae deinameg y dotiau yn awgrymu bod grymoedd gwrthgyferbyniol ar waith– mae’r hyn sy’n estyn allan hefyd yn troi’n ôl tua’r canol. I mi, mae’n adlewyrchu’r ffordd y mae’r Cynulliad yn gweithio, drwy wrando a llywodraethu.
Mae’r gwaith yn gyfuniad o wahanol haenau o wydr o wahanol drwch. Cafodd y gwydr ei chwalu cyn cael ei ailffurfio i greu siâp newydd. Mae’r brose s hon yn creu wyneb anarferol sy’n dal y golau.
