The work is a collection of 17 small fired sculptures enclosed in a black grille covered box including a vessel made using the ashes of the artist's father. The artist wrote of the piece: ‘This collection includes a vessel which I made using my father's ashes; a grid guards the pieces. Archaeologists dig and delve into burial grounds where people's remains have been ritually placed, in keeping with the beliefs of their own culture. It seems that the passing of time justifies any desecration, any level of insatiable or morbid curiosity. Those times are no different from ours. The very existence of mystery or the unexplained seems excuse enough to sweep aside all former rites, simply to add to the list of what is known or found. We call these things found even though they were not lost.
