Said to be former Wool Exchange Room and Merchants' Hall, of fourteenth century origins, with surviving constructional details however largely fifteenth century. It was restored by C. R. Ashbee as his home after 1904. Below the oriel is a moulded doorway by Ashbee with a heavy keystone and sidelights. The later keystone is modelled on the stained-glass window of 'ASH' and 'BEE' by Paul Woodroffe.
