Stained glass designer, illustrator, printmaker and painter, born in Madras, India, educated at Stonyhurst, the Roman Catholic public school. At Slade School of Fine Art won a life drawing prize. After working for the stained glass designer Christopher Whall, Woodroffe established his own studio in Chipping Campden and became a member of Art Workers’ Guild and British Society of Master Glass Painters. His windows in St Patrick’s Cathedral, New York, took over 20 years to finish. Work appeared in Illustrated London News and The Quarto and many books illustrated included titles by Browning, Housman, Shakespeare and Tennyson. Exhibited at RA, NEAC, Fine Art Society and Baillie Gallery. William Morris Gallery gave him a show in 1982–3. Lived for a time in Bisley, Gloucestershire.
