The artist, Shenda Amery, is an eminent British sculptor and Fellow of the Royal Society of British Sculptors. She has made busts of many politicians, establishment and media figures, including former British prime ministers John Major and Margaret Thatcher. Shenda originally trained as a chemist. This sculpture is part of a fountain. It depicts Ambika Paul, who sadly died of leukaemia in 1968, at the age of four. Ambika had loved the zoo and her father, Swraj Paul (Lord Paul) became a generous donor to the zoo after her death.
