Warsaw-born painter and decorative artist, his early brightly coloured Breton scenes and geometric still-lifes were influenced by the Post-Impressionists; close friend of Henri Gaudier-Brzeska, who portrayed him in a powerful plaster head. Wolmark remained independent of the many avant-garde movements. He produced ballet designs for Diaghilev, decorative painted vases and illustrated Israel Zangwill's complete works.
