Painter, printmaker, artist in ceramics and teacher, born in Glasgow. He attended Glasgow School of Art, 1955–60. Was awarded numerous prizes, including the Robert Harr, Chalmers, Haldane and Carnegie Travelling Scholarships. In 1968 he was awarded a Major Arts Council Award, in 1971 the Cargill Award and seven years later the Exhibit of the Year Award at Royal Glasgow Institute of the Fine Arts. He was elected RSW in 1964, chairman of the Glasgow League of Artists in 1977 and a member of the Royal Glasgow Institute in 1989. He was made president of Glasgow Arts Club, 1997. In the late 1960s he set up his own painting school in France, re-establishing it in 1989. For some years he taught in design department of Glasgow College of Building and Printing.
