Painter, born in Ayrshire, who did degree and postgraduate studies at Glasgow School of Art, 1980–5. He gained a Hospitalfield Summer Scholarship, 1983, and an Adam Bruce Thomson Award, 1984. His many group appearances included Royal Glasgow Institute of the Fine Arts, 1984; Compass Gallery, Glasgow, from 1984–5; Warwick Arts Trust, 1985; Clare Hall, Cambridge, New Art from Scotland, 1986; and Galerie Bureaux & Magasins, Oostende, 1991. Had a solo show at Paton Gallery, 1987, then a series at Raab Galerie, Berlin and London, from 1989, also Northlands Festival, Caithness, 1994, and Duncan R Miller Fine Arts, 2004. Contemporary Art Society, Metropolitan Museum of Modern Art in New York and provincial galleries hold his work. Lived near Arbroath, Angus.
