Born in Dublin 1952, Dr Judith Appleby is a Newcastle-based artist working from her studio in B.Box.

From a background in architecture, education and research, Judith has an academic approach to painting: combining a range of artistic influences, with a personal, sometimes formalised, interpretation of landscape and man-made structures. Her Lindisfarne Castle and Farne Islands Rock studies have become a recognisable individual style of strong geometries, geological references and sometimes art-deco influenced patterns integrating natural and built form.

Judith’s professional experience and academic qualifications are in Architecture and Education for creativity. She started painting in 2008 and is self-taught.

Her paintings are in private collections in USA, India, Europe and UK, she is represented by galleries in Newcastle-upon-Tyne, Alnmouth and Glasgow.
