Dedicated to the memory of Michael Bruce (1746–1767), the 'Gentle poet of Lochleven' the small cottage museum in the Kinross-shire village of Kinnesswood houses a collection of manuscripts and various editions of the poet's works. It also holds items of local interest including the tools of the parchment and vellum trade which operated in the village for over 500 years.
While there are no images of the poet himself, the cottage contains a fine collection of old photographs, local landscape paintings, portraits and colourful samplers sewn by children in the pre-television age. Amongst the items on display is an intriguing oval oil painting of a lady by an unknown artist, probably dating from the eighteenth century.
