Kinross (Marshall) Museum opened in 2009. Located within the Loch Leven Community Campus it has an exhibition space within the public library and a study room staffed by volunteers. Working closely with the Kinross-shire Historical Society the Museum has amassed a unique collection of artefacts, archives, photographs and publications relating to the history and people of the former County of Kinross. An important element of its archive holdings is a substantial collection of manuscript maps and plans dating back to the 1760s. Curiously, the only oil painting in the collection is not a Kinross-shire landscape but a view of the remains of the old bridge over the River Earn near Bridge of Earn by an as yet unidentified artist.
