Southsea Castle is an ancient monument. It was built in Tudor times to defend Portsmouth and the Solent. It is an impressive building with a central keep and extensive outer defences in good condition.

Southsea Castle is open to the public from May to October each year. It is closed every Monday. Paintings are not usually shown at this site and opening times are subject to change so intending visitors should contact the museum to check in advance.
