Somerset County Council

More about

Somerset Heritage Centre houses nearly 150 oil paintings cared for and managed by Somerset Museums Service, which is part of the South West Heritage Trust. These are accessible to the public by appointment. Somerset's archives, local studies library, Historic Environment Record, and museum reserve collections, as well as the Somerset Archaeological and Natural History Society library and office, are all housed in the Somerset Heritage Centre. The collections are kept in environmentally-controlled stores within this purpose-built facility. Somerset Heritage Centre is the home of the Archives and Local Studies Service, the Heritage Learning team, the Historic Environment Service, the Museums Service and the Victoria County History of Somerset. Please contact the Somerset Heritage Centre to make an appointment to view paintings. Appointments will usually be available from Monday to Friday, 10am–5pm.
