The past decade has seen a proliferation of arts and health activity across all sections of healthcare and a new growth in the size and genre of art collections in hospitals. This is partly due to studies showing that art programmes have positive health outcomes for patients including reduction of stress, pain intensity, and length of stay. University College London Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust’s arts collection is one such collection that has developed since the appointment of an Arts Curator in 2005. University College Hospital collection is on wards and in public areas.
