Erasmus Darwin, grandfather of Charles Darwin, was a philosopher and pioneer in science, technology and medicine. His work was of national and international significance but has been little known until recently. Erasmus Darwin House, his former home, was opened in 1999 in order to celebrate his life and promote his memory. The House is a Grade I listed building and registered museum and charity.
