Located in central Cambridge on the Downing Site, the Department of Psychology is part of the School of the Biological Sciences in the University of Cambridge. The Department's research groups and labs carry out leading-edge psychological and neuroscientific research of world-class standard. The Department's one painting of Sir Frederic Charles Bartlett has a strong connection to the Department. He was a British psychologist and the first professor of experimental psychology at the University of Cambridge. He was one of the forerunners of cognitive psychology and is well known for his famous studies on the cognitive and social processes of remembering.
