Sir Frederic Charles Bartlett has a strong connection to the Department. He was a British psychologist and the first professor of experimental psychology at the University of Cambridge. He was one of the forerunners of cognitive psychology and is well known for his famous studies on the cognitive and social processes of remembering.

This work was exhibited at the Royal Academy in 1953, no. 263.
