More about

In 2003 the Bushey Museum Trust received an extraordinarily generous bequest of the Victorian house and estate of Reveley Lodge in Bushey Heath. It had been the home of the artist and Herkomer student, Albert Ranney Chewett. His widow, Mrs Eila Chewett, a generous supporter of the Museum, wished it to be preserved partly as a memorial to her husband's work. She had already donated all her husband's paintings to Bushey Museum Trust. Many of them were painted in, and form an historic record of, the interior of Reveley Lodge. They now form part of the collection of paintings there, together with the Chewetts' personal collection of works by artist friends and contemporaries and a number of eighteenth- and nineteenth-century family portraits.
