Artist and photographer, born in Toronto, Canada, who travelled to England with his family in the late 1890s, attending Herkomer’s School at Bushey, Hertfordshire, for several years before studying at Académie Julian, Paris. After time in Canada, where hedecorated the Rotunda of the Prince George Hotel, Toronto, with scenes of pioneering life and showed at the Ontario Society of Artists show in 1905, Chewett had a studio in Florence, Italy, then returned to Bushey, where he settled. Latterly became more interested in photography and radio than art. Showed at RA and Walker Art Gallery in Liverpool and was included in A R Chewett and Friends, mounted by Bushey Museum Trust, 1986.
