John worked in book publishing as a Production Director in the Macmillan group of companies, responsible at one time or another for trade, academic and educational production. On retirement he took a BA and then an MA in History of Art at Birkbeck, University of London, following a passion he had enjoyed for many years. John is proud to be a Liveryman of the Stationers' Company, and has a special interest in the Hall's collection of fine art.
