Andy Friend's first book on an artist and his circle was Ravilious & Co: The Pattern of Friendship (Thames & Hudson, 2017). He conceived and co-curated the eponymous Towner Gallery exhibition which toured the UK in 2017–2018, attracting around 100,000 visitors. The exhibition and book John Nash: the Landscape of Love and Solace (Thames & Hudson 2020) is his second project with Towner.
Andy is a former Chief Executive of the City of Melbourne and of John Laing Plc, the UK infrastructure and construction group. He has written extensively on economic development, inner-city politics and urban policy.
